Objective: This class will focus on students learning and mastering algebraic principle and its application on real world situations.

Classroom Requirements: 

  • Text Book
  • Math Folder
  • Calculator
  • Protractor

Note: the use of calculators is up to my discretion.

Grading Policies: (This scale is subject to change. In the event that this does happen, students will be notified inmediatly).

  • Class Participation: taking notes, doing in-class activities and being on time is worth 25% of the overall grade
  • Project homework: there will be approximately two projects per quarter. This part is worth 20% of your grade. 
  • Test and quizzes: this part is worth 45% of your grade.

Grading Scale:

  • 100 - 90 = A
  • 89 - 60 = B
  • 79 - 70 = C
  • 69 - 60 = D
  • 59 - Below = F

Assignments: There will be no homework/assignment accepted three (3) days past the due date. If you are absent, the count down begins upon your return to class. For everyday that your homework is late, your grade will drop 10%.

SRA: You are responsible for obtaining any notes, homework, or any information provided to the class during this time. You need to make arrangements with me prior to any activity if there is a test during this time. I'll not accept as an excuse you being or participating on a SRA as a means for you not to comply with class responsibilities.

Attendance: attendance is a major key to succeed in this class (class participation). You are responsible for all information and activities that are done in class when you are absent.

Make-up work: If absent, upon returning to class, you must bring a note signed by parent or legal guardian in order to receive make-up work. A test must be made-up before or after school. You need to make arrangements with me to determine the date. Work or test missed due to an unexcused absent will receive a grade of zero (0). It is your responsibility to complete all missing assignments. 

Classroom's Rules

  • Respect and be polite to all people and property
  • Be on time, ready to learn, and with materials
  • Listens quietly while others speak
  • Follow directions to the best of your capabilities
  • No food or drink inside the classroom (including gum)

Student's Expectation:

  • Come prepared to class, ready to learn, and do the work that is expected of you.
  • Respect yourself, classmates, school property, and teacher
  • All rules of the student's manual apply
  • Participation: be on time, tardy is a class disruption

Tardy Policy:

First tardy:   Verbal warning

Second tardy:  You will write a two paragraph note indicating to me why you will no longer be tardy

Third tardy:   A phone call home and after school detention

Fourth Tardy and on:  A referral

Teacher Expectations:

  • To be prepared
  • To be fair
  • To kep you informed of your progress in a timely manner
  • To be available for questioning and extra help
